Every fall the Shenandoah Valley, rich in its agricultural history along the Shenandoah River, celebrates the harvest season by showing off its many local products and producers through attractions like the Harrisonburg Farmers Market and great annual events like the Shenandoah Autumnfest. While a longstanding fundraising event held at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds, Autumnfest is one of the greatest parties of the year featuring local bands, amazing barbecue, beer, wine and whiskey, and fun events for the whole family.
If you’re looking for a fun outdoor time in this gorgeous Virginia region when the summer temperatures have eased their grip, head out for the Shenandoah Autumnfest on October 17th. Tickets for the event are only $7!
The Rogue Farmers are from Woodstock, Virginia and are a gypsy Americana and alternative bluegrass band, otherwise known as farm jazz comprised of entirely acoustic instruments ranging from guitar and fiddle to mandolin and dog house bass. Their music is lively, heartfelt and downright beautiful as they capture the spirit of the land.
Five of a Kind has been together for over 30 years of exceptional bluegrass from the Shenandoah Valley. If you visited the area before, chances are you’ve seen this amazing talent perform with their old-timey sounds that will get your feet stomping and your heart singing along with Five of a Kind.
Shenandoah Autumnfest is a truly spectacular event to look forward to each fall in the area. Whether you’re a sucker for southern Virginia BBQ, craft beers, top shelf whiskey, or great down-home bluegrass music, this is a fun time for the whole family with great activities for the kids. Celebrating fall in Virginia is just that fun!
